Use this simple steps to download videos from YouTube
- 1Go to the video you want to download.In a web browser, go to www.youtube.com and locate the YouTube video you want to download. You can start playing the video to ensure it's the correct video.

- 2Copy the video's URL. Click and drag across the address of the video at the top of your browser address bar to highlight it, then press Ctrl+C on Windows or ⌘ Command+C on a Mac. This copies the video URL.
- 3Open VLC. It's the app with the icon of an orange traffic cone.
VLC - If you don't have it already, you can download VLC for free at https://www.videolan.org. VLC is an open-source video player with a lot of beneficial features for playing all kinds of files.[2]
- 4Open a new Network stream. Network streams allow you to play content from your web browser in VLC:
- Windows — Click Media, then click Open Network Stream....
- Mac — Click File, then click Open Network.
- 5Paste the YouTube video's URL into the field. Click the "Please enter a network URL" text box, then press Ctrl+V(Windows) or ⌘ Command+V (Mac). You should see the YouTube video's address appear in the text box.

- 6Play the video. At the bottom of the window, click either Play (Windows) or Open (Mac). This will open the YouTube video in VLC.
- 7View the video's codec information.To do so:
- Windows — Click Tools, then click Codec Information.
- Mac — Click Window, then click Media Information.
- 8Copy the "Location" field. At the bottom of the window, you'll see a long address that you'll need to copy:
- Windows — Right-click the "Location" text field, click Select All, and then right-click it again and click Copy.
- Mac — Right-click (or Control-click) the "Location" text field and click Open URL.
- 9Open the video in your browser. Open a new browser tab and paste the copied URL, then press ↵ Enter. This will load the video directly in your browser.
- You can skip this step if you're on a Mac and you selected Open URL in the previous step.
- 10Download the video. Right-click the video in your browser, then click Save video as in the resulting drop-down menu. The video will begin downloading onto your computer as an MP4 file with the name "videoplayback".
- Depending on your browser's settings, you may first need to select a save location and enter a name for your file before it will download.
