What is RAM?

In short, it is an extremely fast type of memory that temporarily stores all information on your PC, mobile, tablet and etc. for now and for the future.This is where your computer stores all the instantaneous things it thinks are going to be used soon, so that when it needs something, it can read it quickly and show the results. RAM is completely separate from your system's storage hard drive. RAM stores all information for a very short time.

Random Access Memory, or RAM, is one of the most important components for desktop PCs, laptops, tablets, smartphones, and gaming consoles. Without RAM, doing anything on any system would be much slower. If it is not available in your system then it is very difficult to run any application without it.

RAM is like the short term memory of your system. It can load all information about your web browser, applications like Excel you are using, or games you are running so that you can use it quickly when you reopen it. Whenever you open any application, RAM stores all its data so that when you open it again, it will not take much time to open and use it.

RAM is not designed to store data forever, as soon as you open another application to perform another task it immediately stores all its information. In computer language, it is described as "unstable". As such, as soon as you turn off your computer it clears all the data. All the information stored in it is automatically deleted. So we need storage systems like hard drives and SSDs to store any information for a long time. Even after shutting down your system, you can access all the information available in hard drives and SSDs again.

Types of RAM:

The most common type of RAM available in the market is DDR4, although older systems still use DDR2 or DDR3. These simply represent the generation of RAM, with each generation having greater speed and bandwidth. Every generation has physical changes, so we cannot interchange it.

For graphics cards, we use VRAM. This is known as the graphics DDR SDRAM, or GDDR. Most modern graphics cards will use GDDR5, while some newer ones also use GDDR5X and GDDR6.

What should be the size:

Whenever we buy a PC or mobile phone, we see how much RAM should be there. How much RAM storage should be depends on your usage. If you work on one or two application, then 2GB of RAM is enough, but if you work on more than two or three application and also use game application, then you will need at least 4gb of RAM. RAM storage is also depends upon the quality of application which you are using.you can buy RAM from 1GB to 8GB.
