Gearbox unveils Godfall for PlayStation 5; this is that the third-person fantasy looter-slasher targeted on battle royal combat, supporting for PlayStation 5 and Epic Games Store for vacation 2020. Developed by counterplay Games and revealed by Gearbox publishing.

At The Game Awards, Gearbox announced its first official PlayStation 5 game! It is called Godfall and is coming Holiday 2020 exclusively to the PS5 and Epic Games Store.

Godfall is the first game officially announced for PlayStation 5. The game is essentially a fantasy action-RPG featuring third-person melee combat. Players will hunt for loot, wear legendary armor sets and go up against "vicious enemies" and bosses which will drop sweet, sweet loot.

Godfall can be played solo, duo, or three-player co-op. The game is slated for a late-2020 release on PC and as a console exclusive on PlayStation 5.

PlayStation 5 is the new console that set to appear sometime next fall/winter or, as SONY says “Holiday season.” But, even though there’s less than a year left until its release, there are still few details about the new machine.

One thing we do know is that it will feature a new and improved CPU. Instead of a spinning hard drive, it will be a solid-state drive. This means, pretty much, that everyone will move faster and the scope of games can be much bigger, with less pop-in and longer draw distances. But maybe the best part about this whole thing is that there will be zero-load times. A totally seamless, cinematic gaming experience.

Apparently, Sony is being forced to change everything about the way their company works all for the PlayStation 5 not only that but their vision for the future their goal of a massive expansion for that ecosystem and more.

The PlayStation 5 might not be fully unveiled yet, but that hasn't stopped Gearbox Publishing from showing off footage of the first official PS5 game - Godfall. A teaser trailer was revealed during The Game Awards 2019.

The footage shown is in-engine, giving us our first look at a game running on next-gen hardware. Get a look at Godfall in all its PS5 glory in the trailer. The loot chase will be a central conceit to the game, as will epic encounters with "vicious" enemies. Counterplay describes that loot as "head-turning," and promises that the entire game can be played solo, duo, or in three-player co-op.

Co-op is available at any time too, so if you want to play solo for a while and then add a couple of friends, you can easily accommodate them. They describe the setting as a "bright fantasy universe" replete with knights and magic, and the teaser trailer betrays a bit of a little hearted "devil may care" attitude from the game's protagonists. They comment about a thousand-year war to start the apocalypse as they stare at a storm rising above a massive tower. A multi headed dragon-like creature appears from the storm as the game's logo appears. Counterplay isn't saying much more about the setting or characters right now, but with another year to go until release, there's plenty of time to talk about it before then.

Though console exclusive to PS5, Godfall will also be coming to PC via the Epic Games Store. Arriving Holiday 2020 will put it within the PlayStation 5's launch window, if not an actual launch title with the next-gen console.
